I realized yesterday when I took my cat Sazzy for a walk that I have an easier time talking to animals than children.

With my cat it’s all Snow White esque and all “Aww, what are you doing silly, are you eating the grass? Does that taste good? You shouldn’t roll around in the dirt you know, you’re going to get all dirty then you’re just going to want to lick it off. Oh, did that noise scare you? Aw, you’re okay baby!”

But then a child that was outside playing walked up to me and asked what I was doing and I just bluntly said, “Walking my cat.” And tried to avoid all conversation with this kid. I mean, I greatly dislike children and this girl wasn’t even that annoying on the spectrum of annoying children. I mean, it’s a crazy lady walking a cat, of course the girl is going to be curious and yet I could not think of anything to say to her. I felt like a really awkward person even though I should be adult enough to be able to ask a few questions to the curious neighbor girl.
